Hi everyone, I’ve been out of 3D for nearly 3 years still trying to get back into the swing of things, looking forward to sharing my work with you all and seeing what amazing projects people will be working on throughout the challenge.Moodboard of ideas for a advanced technological age whereΒ humans have mastered the art of space travel.
The idea is that humans have unlocked the secrets of space travel, and use space ports to traverse the vastness of space, from scientific research and exploration to the huge tourism industry. This environment will show my idea of how I believe humans will be living in generations to come.
The first image shows where my project is currently at and the 3 images below are for scale testing, allowing me to make quick iterations as required to ensure believability of the scene as a whole.
looking forward to sharing more updates and seeing everyone’s progress.
Good Luck All

3 years is a long time! I love your idea though and the current progress is looking very big and blocky, looking forward to the updates!- July 12, 2022 at 11:19 am
Thank you for your kind words, its been a while since I’ve had a buzz about 3D so hoping to do this environment some justice. I Will keep updating with the progress of the project π- July 12, 2022 at 3:04 pm
I love this idea, definitely fits the large environment feel already with the modules you’ve created.Really good job so far with the shapes as well, I feel like this will add for a nice amount of detail in the scene as well.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the progress on this

Hi, I really like the fact you’re using cylindrical shapes, quite refreshing when compared to the ‘blocky’ blockouts that are usually seen π I also like the futuristic concept you’re going for and the whole sci-fi atmosphere, it’s similar to my first idea, very cool!P.S. You can change the size of the images, if you click the picture (in edit mode) and then click Edit. Would be nice to read your notes!

Thanks you AMartin, Im trying to go different with how i thought everyone else would approach this challenge, just hoping i can get it finished in time π- July 12, 2022 at 11:28 pm
Hi aSm, thanks for your kind words, I’m trying to go a different route to the open plain, grass and mountain scene, as I felt that this would be done by a many of the participants, and I wanted to try and push myself with a technical piece that I can show detail in; whilst still keeping it to the blockout/whitebox requirement. I never realised that I could change the size of the images, ill make sure and adjust them on my next update. I have been working on it today but only testing out modular pieces for walls and floors meaning I haven’t got anything tangible to show as yet, hopefully I will have something by end of the day tomorrow to share π- July 19, 2022 at 6:38 pm
Hey guys, I havent had much of a chance to build on my first post due to work π
I have created an entrance to a bunker which will be against a rocky mountain/terrain, I realised that the scope of my initial idea was way too big, so ive changed the environment slightly from a star port to a landing bay (still sci fi but a much more realistic scale than the original idea) i am hoping i will get to work more on this and get it finished on time. (fingers crossed)

Good progress on this, I like the modular planning. It is so easy to overscope, done it a lot. Nice to see that you’re still keeping the idea though, looking forward to seeing it develop further!- July 26, 2022 at 5:35 pm
Thanks Ama π- July 26, 2022 at 5:37 pm
Thanks aSm, yeah the scope of projects is so easy to get lost in.- July 26, 2022 at 5:48 pm
Hey guys, another set of progress shots, hoping to get more done by the end of the week (hopefully a better ship blockout done). Scene is starting to come together a few tweaks here and there with some better lighting passes to be done too.
