Adding the most recent image here ^^^ to change the thumbnail of the topic lol.
I have no idea what I’m going to make yet for the final blockout but today I messed around with some boxes just to get started and I like how this looks so far but I don’t think it fits the theme of Big.

Nice Karl! Maybe have this as an entrance to a much bigger environment to fit the theme?- July 12, 2022 at 1:30 am
Okay I deleted everything and moved stuff around, scaled some other stuff and I think we got something cool going on now. I have some idea of what the interior is looking like and I think I’m gonna go for a ruin or temple with some scaffolding and rope pulleys from adventures or something? I have no idea lol. Just think Tomb raider or Uncharted.
The next big thing I need to figure out is what the heck is outside of this room? a big temple? a river? I dunno! Guess we will find out next time.
I would also be really interested in what you all imagine this room could be from looking at it. Maybe some of you could add some extra insight?

Hi BK, Looking through the project wips here and I’m loving how the idea is taking shape, I like the idea of a ruin outside of the main room, Looking forward to seeing how your idea comes together 🙂- July 12, 2022 at 8:05 pm
Hi, Your lighting is already very good, some really good bounces going there. Since you’re still very early WIP, I would play around with different shapes (cones, triangles, cylinders etc.) and see how that works for you. Perhaps a larger object that would be the centerpiece and then build around it? Also look at various concepts on artstation, pinterest etc. just for inspiration!P.S. You can change the size of the images, if you click the picture (in edit mode) and then click Edit.

I started adding a bit more to the outside of the first room and I think I want to push it towards more of the direction of something like dark souls or elden ring with gothic architecture, a large bell tower and maybe a bigger castle or building in the background.
I did like the ruin idea I had at first but I was having a really hard time visualising it even after looking at tons of concept art and pictures. Maybe I could incorporate some kind of ruin or destruction into this current town idea? I’ll keep tinkering with it!

Thank you! I might try and find a way to incorporate a ruin into the current direction, gotta keep playing around with it.

Thanks for the edit tip!!! I’ve started playing around with the cone shapes but I’ll definitely explore the other shapes more and see if I can make something eye catching cause at the minute its mostly just blocky buildings. Do you think the bell tower or castle in the distance could work as the larger object?

Hey BK, great job on the environment, i see you opened it up, lighting is working well although i would play around with the saturation of the red slightly more, great to see the progress 🙂- July 20, 2022 at 11:09 pm

Thanks Steven! I’ve removed the red lighting for now but I’ll keep playing with the saturation and hopefully include it in someway in the final version

Hey all, I haven’t updated in awhile. I played around with having some destruction with the broken bridge but I decided to remove it as it became really distracting when I changed the environment to a portrait ratio. I like where its heading now though! I think it really gives off the feeling of scale. I just gotta start making those buildings next.

Started detailing a small house! I was going to make modular walls but instead I’ve made smaller parts that I can reuse and I’ll export the entire buildings instead of having loads of individual assets

update!
Made some houses and bridges and moved stuff around
Next I’m gonna add more houses and deal with the castle in the background which is gonna be a tough one to get the scale right.
