This is my final submission for the “Big & Blocky” Challenge.

I tried to keep it with simple shapes and blocky as I could and overall I believe I managed to capture the mood and composition that I was aiming for with my references.

I have already seen some amazing pieces submitted and I’m quite impressed. I also wish the best of luck to the challengers yet to submit their final artworks.

This challenge has made me realize the vital importance of blockouts, where as before I wouldn’t spend nearly as much time as I should on a solid blockout.

Finally, thank you to the organizers, sponsors, judges and everyone else involved in this unique challenge! Hope I see more of these challenges in the future! 🙂

Good progress on this, I like the modular planning. It is so easy to overscope, done it a lot. Nice to see that you’re still keeping the idea though, looking forward to seeing it develop further!

    WIP #2

Continued work on the military district, played around with the lighting and the general mood I want to achieve:

BK9: Nice breakdown of your idea, I should probably do the same tbh.

Steven_Primrose: Hi aSm, loving how your idea has come together, The planning work done is great to see and the wip of the house showing how the lights will be place give me the haunted castle feel, I love the medieval era with chivalry, honour and the trusted knights, looking forward to seeing this project come to life 🙂

Hi, thanks. I always like to do a little planning before I jump in, helps with organizing what needs to be accomplished! (Even though most of the time doesn’t go according to plan)

Hi, Your lighting is already very good, some really good bounces going there. Since you’re still very early WIP, I would play around with different shapes (cones, triangles, cylinders etc.) and see how that works for you. Perhaps a larger object that would be the centerpiece and then build around it? Also look at various concepts on artstation, pinterest etc. just for inspiration!

P.S. You can change the size of the images, if you click the picture (in edit mode) and then click Edit.

Hi, I really like the fact you’re using cylindrical shapes, quite refreshing when compared to the ‘blocky’ blockouts that are usually seen 🙂 I also like the futuristic concept you’re going for and the whole sci-fi atmosphere, it’s similar to my first idea, very cool!

P.S. You can change the size of the images, if you click the picture (in edit mode) and then click Edit. Would be nice to read your notes!
